Festival Associate Manager, Sundance Film Festival Industry Office

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Festival Associate Manager, Sundance Film Festival Industry Office (SIO) drives communication and manages logistical operations to ensure a seamless Festival experience for sales agents representing Festival films.

Working closely under the Director, Industry Relations, this position will also lead Sundance Industry Office responsibilities that intersect with the Theater Operations Department, Artist Relations, Press Office, and Online Festival team.

This temporary position works full time from Wednesday, October 15, 2025 through Friday, February 13, 2026 and will be required to work extended hours, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet deadlines, and must be willing and available to respond to on-call needs as assigned. This position may work remotely from a state of operation until in-person responsibilities begin in January.

Top priorities include, but are not limited to...

  • Serving as the main department liaison and contact for sales agents of Festival films; maintaining positive relationships with these key constituents.

  • Sending all external sales agent pass registration and ticketing communications according to established timelines and ensuring deadlines are met.

  • Managing and tracking all sales agent registration and ticketing.

  • Communicating important SIO and other key Festival information and processes to sales agents and ensuring their adherence to protocol.

  • Developing and maintaining a working knowledge of sales agent and/or industry needs for Festival films; staying current with Festival-specific industry news.

  • Using an internal database to pull Press & Industry scanning reports (for both in person and online screenings) and distribute them to sales agents during the Festival.

  • Providing onsite management and support at key in-person screenings to ensure sales agents and SIO members follow theater protocol.

  • Working with the Online Festival team to support sales agents as needed.

  • Responding to a high volume of email in a timely manner and escalating communications as necessary.

  • Scheduling and attending informational meetings with key internal departments (Artist Relations, Theater Operations, Press Office, Online Festival, and others) to ensure adherence to cross-department protocol and operations.

  • Updating internal databases and documents with key information that needs to be conveyed to other departments.

  • Managing and supervising volunteers executing in-person duties (and potentially cross-training for in-person duties for the second half of Festival and/or digital duties): creating shift schedules and training materials; providing support, training, and direction; delegating and distributing appropriate work to ensure they are effective in their roles.

  • Creating reports of in-person screenings as needed to make sure all SIO members followed theater protocol.

  • Conducting regular check-ins with theater managers; resolving issues and concerns as needed.

  • Providing operational support to the director as requested.

  • Creating a comprehensive written wrap report.

You have the following direct or transferable skill sets:

  • 3 years of operational planning, event operations, and implementation, or related.

  • Experience and knowledge working within the film industry or Festival circuit.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills to oversee a team of volunteers.

  • Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills required to work and communicate effectively with a variety of people, internally and externally.

  • Excellent organizational skills including the ability to self-manage a work schedule and track a multitude of details.

  • Manage tasks within tight timeframes and deliver results on schedule.

  • Maintain discretion and handle confidential information with care.

  • Proven ability to problem solve within scope of responsibility.

  • Ability to mitigate conflict and facilitate positive customer relations.

  • Proficiency in Google Applications necessary.

  • Working knowledge of Airtable is a plus.

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
