Festival Coordinator, Press Information (Seasonal role)

Location: Park City , UT

Employment dates: Monday, November 4, 2019 thru Friday, March 6, 2020

Pay rate: $15.75 per hour

Considerations: This position works full time in our Park City, UT office. May be lodged in Park City during the January Film Festival. Required to work extended hours, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet deadlines. Must be willing and available to respond to on-call needs as assigned.

Position Summary: Coordinates administrative and logistical duties to support press coverage on the Sundance Institute and its programs.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Monitors press coverage, enters coverage in database, and creates press coverage reports.
  • Liaises with other members of the press team to ensure database information is accurate and current. 
  • Coordinates sending artist and press surveys and compiles information gathered from surveys to share with archives and demographics team.
  • Provides customized statistics, facts and figures to departments as requested. 
  • Researches and verifies statistics, facts and figures about the Festival, such as first-time filmmakers, artists demographics, artists by country of origin, short films, submissions numbers, etc. 
  • Is department point of contact for the Festival Media Center and ensures press working in center have accurate information to navigate the Festival.
  • Schedules interviews with publicists and coordinates logistical aspects of the media interview space.
  • Trains, supervises and evaluates Media Center volunteers and clip report volunteers. 
  • Creates a Sundance Film Festival clip book.
  • Creates the Festival-at-a-Glance one-sheet tracking statistics and data of the Festival.
  • Helps the Accreditation Coordinators in the research of journalists applying for Festival accreditation.
  • Works press lines during the Festival as directed. 
  • Writes a comprehensive wrap report as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Position Requirements:

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • 2 years experience in media relations, marketing or related.  
  • Outstanding communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Strong interpersonal and professional skills required to work effectively with a variety of people. 
  • Excellent organizational skills including self management of work schedule.
  • Comfort calculating basic statistics.
  • Must be able to maintain confidential information. 
  • Ability to work nights and weekends around events and key deadlines. 
  • Detail oriented, able to audit work to avoid mistakes, and perform tasks accurately.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Working knowledge of databases along with proficiency in Google Products.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications.
  • Working knowledge of the media tracking platform Cision.
