POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director, Technology Services is charged with the overall planning, organizing, and execution of all Information Technology (IT) systems and functions across all onsite and remote locations to meet organizational requirements. This position oversees and provides leadership to the help desk, network, and system administration team.
Working closely under the Chief Product and Technology Officer (CPTO), the Director supports Sundance Institute’s commitment to championing independent artists. This position will also play a key role in setting and directing multi-year Technology strategy, ensuring alignment with Institute-wide goals.
This full-time position is based within a commutable distance to Boulder, CO in order to work onsite in a hybrid capacity throughout the year as the Festival prepares to relocate for its 2027 iteration. While much of the day-to-day work may be performed remotely, this position will need to work onsite in a hybrid capacity at key points. This role works extended hours, including evenings and weekends at key points and will require travel to Institute offices and events on occasion.

Analyzing complex business needs presented by the organization and/or customers to recommend and oversee the implementation of technical solutions.
Working closely with the Director of Engineering to ensure the consistency and maintainability of existing applications by creating, maintaining, and enforcing standards and procedures for implementing technical solutions.
Directing production task operation and execution according to a documented schedule that meets or exceeds organizational expectations.
Directing operations to ensure the security of IT infrastructure, network, systems, and enterprise information and continually monitoring and managing IT security threats and audits.
Leading the development, maintenance, and enforcement of department-wide IT policies, standard operating procedures, and compliance measures, ensuring consistency, security, and operational excellence across all locations and remote environments.
Communicating project status and realistic timelines to all stakeholders.
Overseeing the production of a detailed timeline for Festival and Lab IT support.
Building relationships with external IT vendors and service providers.
Benchmarking against industry best practices and making recommendations for the improvement of the IT infrastructure (including the cloud) and IT systems.
Reviewing the performance of IT systems to determine operating costs, productivity levels, and upgrade requirements.
Leading and mentoring a team of direct and indirect reports, including selecting and training highly effective employees, providing direction, feedback, mentorship, and support to ensure all understand responsibilities and are effective in their roles while delegating appropriate and meaningful work.
Serving as the final escalation point for critical IT operational and security incidents, ensuring timely resolution, clear communication, and continuous improvement of incident response protocols.
Overseeing the IT budget, working closely with team budget managers to ensure accurate forecasting, diligent tracking of spending, timely invoice and expense processing, and proactive identification of cost-saving opportunities that align resources with strategic goals.
Advising stakeholders on technical needs and solutions, developing and directing plans for implementation as needed.
Overseeing policies and best practices related to productivity software usage.
Leading the procurement and licensing process for productivity software tools.
Overseeing the integration and responsible use of AI tools to enhance productivity and operational efficiency.
Leading cross-departmental technology integration and change management initiatives, fostering collaboration and innovation across the Institute.
You have the following direct or transferable skill sets:
10 years experience within information technology, specifically managing enterprise systems and infrastructure.
Knowledge of the most current technologies and products used in the industry.
Experience communicating and presenting to internal and external stakeholders including executive teams and vendors both one-on-one and in larger settings.
Experience managing IT security initiatives.
Excellent interpersonal skills to develop effective working relationships throughout the organization.
Ability to anticipate, define, and prevent problems, investigate obstacles, gather relevant information, generate alternative solutions, and arrive at workable solutions.
Ability to convey processes necessary to get things done, understanding how to separate and combine tasks into efficient workflows.
Understanding of how to best organize people and activities.
Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Routinely running gap analysis, which identifies areas where current and future expectations are not being met then establishing plans with the Chief Product and Technology Officer to fill those gaps.
Communicate effectively with the Technology Services team and other departments as collaboration requires.
Train, mentor, and develop team members to ensure they develop and grow their skills.
Direct and support the implementation of new software, hardware, storage, and/or cloud solutions.
Coordinate IT activities to ensure availability and network services with as little downtime as necessary.
