Festival Publications Designer

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Festival Publications Designer will be charged with designing the layout of Festival publications and producing digital and printed materials.

Working closely under the direction of the Associate Editorial Director and the Creative Director and closely with the Graphic Design team, the Festival Publications Designer will contribute to the overall success of the Festival by ensuring the preparation of digital and printed publications.

This temporary position works full time from Monday, November 10, 2025, through Wednesday, January 28, 2026, and will be required to work extended hours, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet key deadlines and respond to on-call needs as assigned. This is a fully remote position that does not require any on-site work duties.

Top priorities include, but are not limited to…

  • Building two Festival Program Guides, the press and industry guide (approx. 20 pages), Jury book, and the Directors Guide (8.5x11” PDF doc.) utilizing layout templates.

  • Formatting all Festival program data using InDesign.

  • Assisting in additional designed collateral as needed during the Festival.

  • Organizing, filing, and archiving all artwork files.

  • Maintaining a high volume of edits from all departments.

  • Completing a comprehensive wrap report for each of the projects and participating in team wrap conversations.

  • Assisting with designing additional materials as requested.

  • Completing a comprehensive written wrap report as directed.

You have the following direct or transferable skill sets:

  • 3 years of experience in designing publication layouts or related.

  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop, including an understanding of InDesign tags and XML importing.

  • Knowledge of Frame.io software.

  • Knowledge of best practices of typesetting, including using paragraph and character styles and automating tasks for laying out large bodies of content.

  • Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills required to work effectively with a variety of people.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

  • Fully utilize Adobe Creative Suite to create designs for Festival publications.

  • Work well within a team and problem-solve to resolve issues quickly and efficiently.
