Senior Manager, Marketing

Location: Park City , UT
Department: Marketing and Communications

Considerations: Position works full time in our Park City, UT office. Must be able to work extended hours, weekend work, and some holidays at key points throughout the year. Occasional travel to other Institute offices and events may be required throughout the year. Travel estimated around 2-5%. 

Position General Summary: Our Senior Manager, Marketing develops and executes marketing strategies for Sundance Institute’s year-round programs with an emphasis on the Sundance Film Festival, and helps to oversee the Park City-based seasonal marketing team. They must be highly collaborative and accustomed to working and building relationships across an organization to meet, execute and deliver on its marketing objectives. Will work closely with the Associate Director to develop and implement best in class operations to ensure department efficiency and deliver the highest level of leadership, partnership, and service. 


Essential Job Functions and Duties

Strategy, Execution, and Measurement:

  • Develops marketing campaign strategies and manages execution.

  • Creates and drives timelines, adheres to procedures, requirements, and deadlines across multiple teams, departments, and stakeholders. 

  • Manages and assists in the development of customer-facing marketing materials and tools. 

  • Creates campaign performance reports that include key metrics and deliver actionable insights.


  • Develops and applies clear, efficient, and responsive processes in order to best execute marketing plans.

  • Assesses opportunities to gain efficiencies and works closely with the Associate Director to review/plan/implement.

  • Acts as the process expert on the marketing team, driving the adoption of strategy and project management tools, and developing and implementing best practices. 


  • Conducts outreach and cultivates internal and external relationships with staff, marketing vendors, official providers, etc. to ensure proactive communication, professional, and productive relationships.

  • Researches vendors and negotiates their contracts, works closely with HR and Finance to define the scope of work, and the payment of invoices.


  • Manages and builds assigned project and annual budgets, tracks monthly expenses, and processes invoices. 


  • Helps to lead and guide a team of year-round and seasonal staff (for the Sundance Film Festival), including selecting and training highly qualified staff, providing direction, feedback, and support to ensure employees understand responsibilities and are effective in their roles, and delegates appropriate and meaningful work.

  • Is a champion for the Park City Team and an ambassador to positive office culture.

Position Requirements:

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or related

  • 4-5 years experience in a project management, marketing or marketing operations role

  • Superior organizational skills/knowledge

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording, tracking and issuing information, etc.

  • Experience leading and managing employees

  • Highly collaborative

  • Experience executing medium to large scale marketing strategies, from planning to execution

  • Experience building and managing budgets

  • Experience building and managing contracts with external vendors and internal customers

  • Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills to work with a wide variety of people

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data to ensure customer understanding

  • Ability to work nights and weekends around events and key deadlines

  • Must be able to maintain confidential information


Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills: 

  • Experience handling medium to large scale, high visibility projects with large budgets or large sales impact

  • Experience using Google Products, such as Drive, Slides, Spreadsheets, and Word

  • Experience using project management software, such as Airtable and Filemaker

  • Experience using email marketing and email invite tools, such as Mailchimp and Splash

  • Experience using campaign performance measurement tools, such as Google Analytics, UX/UI, UTM, SEO

  • Experience copywriting and copyediting

  • Experience using design tools, such as Canva, LucidPress, and Adobe Creative Cloud
