Festival Manager, Press Office (Seasonal role)

Location: Park City , UT

Employment Dates: Wednesday, October 16, 2019†through Friday, February 21, 2020.

Pay rate: $900 per week (Exempt)

Considerations: This position works full time out of our Park City, UT office. Maybe lodged in Park City during the January Film Festival. Required to work extended hours, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet deadlines. Must be willing and available to respond to on-call needs as assigned.†

Position Summary: This position manages functions of the Sundance Film Festival Press Office, including operational planning and onsite implementation. The position will have four direct reports to assist in facilitating department operations.†

Duties and Responsibilities:†

  • Manages department calendars and stakeholders to ensure departmental deadlines are met.
  • With Senior Manager, creates training manuals and documents, schedules, and conducts department training and meetings as requested.†
  • Creates an operational plan and manages the setup and breakdown of the Festival Press Office located at Headquarters, e.g.signage, furniture, equipment, establishing timelines with other departments, etc
  • Manages staff and volunteers, includes selecting and training highly effective staff and volunteers, providing direction, feedback, and support to ensure employees and volunteers understand responsibilities and are effective in their roles, and delegates appropriate and meaningful work.
  • Generates media coverage reports regarding announcements, initiatives and internal requests as needed.†
  • Assists Senior Manager with various projects, such as implementing day to day media requests, e.g fact checks, photo, and video requests, creating targeted media lists, etc.
  • Provides timely communication regarding Festival specific information to attending press and publicists.
  • Assists the Sundance Industry Office in obtaining and distributing attendance reports.
  • Oversees the departmental designated media space, implements and enforces its policies and procedures.†
  • Schedules wrap meetings with key departments.
  • Completes a comprehensive written wrap report as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • 3 years experience in public relations, media relations or event publicity.†
  • Leadership skills with a background that includes managing people.††
  • Outstanding communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Strong interpersonal and professional skills required to work effectively with a variety of people.†
  • Excellent organizational skills including self management of work schedule.
  • Must be able to maintain confidential information.†
  • Ability to work nights and weekends around events and key deadlines.†

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Working knowledge of databases along with proficiency in Google Products.
  • Experience facilitating trainings.
  • Bachelorís Degree in communications or related.
