Temporary Coordinator, Documentary Film Fund

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Temporary Coordinator, Documentary Film Fund is a key position within the Documentary Film Program (DFP) charged with providing project coordination, administrative and curatorial support to the Sundance Documentary Fund team.

Working under supervision of the Director, Documentary Film Fund and closely with the Documentary Fund Manager and Coordinator, this role supports the first stage of review for the Sundance Institute Documentary Fund’s annual open call for submissions, as well as provides project coordination for the Fund’s annual grantee onboarding and press announcement.

This temporary position works full time (40 hours per week) from Wednesday, July 1, 2026 through Friday, October 2, 2026. This is a fully remote role that may be based out of any of our operating states and does not require any onsite work duties. Extended hours, including evenings and weekends will be required at key points to meet deadlines and respond to on-call needs as assigned.

Top priorities include but are not limited to…

  • Acting as the main point of contact for and liaising with the Fund external reviewers (screeners).

  • Monitoring screeners’ progress on their assignments and providing them with assistance, as needed.

  • Ensuring screeners complete their assignments and submit their invoices on time.

  • Providing ongoing evaluation of project submissions and screener reviews.

  • Providing support across all end of fiscal year administrative tasks and responsibilities.

  • Coordinating new grantee pre-orientation communication, ensuring effective onboarding to the program.

  • Generating welcome packets and creating the new grantee project guide, working closely with the Fund Manager and Coordinator.

  • Coordinating internal schedules and supporting the Fund team with the planning of the orientation.

  • Providing technical support during the orientation, typically hosted on Zoom over two sessions.

  • Coordinating grantee communication post-orientation, including the scheduling of individual grantee calls as needed.

  • Liaising with the Marketing and Communications team on creating a new Press Deliverables form and coordinating communication with the entire 2026 Sundance Documentary Fund grantee cohort to collect their marketing deliverables.

  • Collecting any additional information the team needs for the annual press announcement, including submission stats, grantee demographics, etc. Supporting the kick-off of the second review stage for the Sundance Institute Documentary Fund, including coordinating staff project assignment and setting up internal project discussion meetings.

  • Scheduling internal and external meetings for the Documentary Fund team as needed.

You have the following direct or transferable skill sets:

  • 2 years of programmatic or curatorial work, ideally in the documentary field, or related experience.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording, tracking, and issuing information.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to work effectively with a wide variety of people.

  • Proficiency in Google Products and Airtable database.

  • Excellent organizational skills including self-management of work schedule and the ability to multitask.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Interest and knowledge of documentary film landscape.

  • Working knowledge of Application software Survey Monkey Apply preferred.

  • Legal authorization to work in the United State
